If your wedding or event on SSI is coming soon – make sure to tell your out of town guests where to go as they enter the island! Don’t let them get taken by surprise when driving onto St Simons Island because if they are heading anywhere on the North side of the island then their directions may get skewed. The current construction as you enter the island has started in July and will continue through the rest of the summer. The goal is to make Demere Road a one way street as you leave the island. Coming onto the island, all traffic will be diverted to the right with the option to swing back around to the left if you are headed to Sea Island or points north on the island.
So make sure that all your guests know where to go as they come on the island this summer. The recent construction has the roads all marked off and can get confusing (especially at night or during a heavy rain shower) for visitors not local to St Simons.
